US Air Force Kicks Off 2022’s First Red Flag Exercise

SCOPUS - More than 100 aircraft and 3,000 soldiers have arrived at Nellis Air Force Base to participate in the first Red Flag exercise of the year, the US Air Force announced. Running from January 24 to February 11, the drill will provide realistic military training and increase combat effectiveness. “Red Flag-Nellis 22-1 is America’s premier air combat exercise focused on readiness and partnering through Air Expeditionary Wing-led strike ops,” Col. Jared Hutchinson, 414th Combat Training Squadron commander, said in a military statement.

SCOPUS - The Fire Scout MQ-8B unmanned aircraft system from Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35 performs a deck landing qualification aboard the coastal battleship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3). Currently on a 16-month rotating deployment in support of the Asia-Pacific Balance, the Fort Worth is a fast and agile warship built specifically for patrolling the region's coasts and working hull-to-hull with partner navies, providing the 7th Fleet. with the flexibility of capabilities needed now and in the future.  The Northrop Grumman MQ-8 Fire Scout is an unmanned autonomous helicopter developed by Northrop Grumman for use by the United States Armed Forces. BY: SCOPUS F-35B Lightning IIs attached to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122 conduct flight operations for the first time aboard amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7), Jan. 11. This is the first time F-35s have operated on Tripoli. Tripoli is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet.  The design of USS Tripoli is based on USS Makin Island, which is itself an improved version of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship. Approximately 45% of the Flight 0 design is based on LHD-8, with the well deck removed to allow more room for aircraft and aviation fuel.  The design of Tripoli features an enlarged hangar deck, realignment and expansion of the aviation maintenance facilities, and a significant increase in her available stowage for parts and support equipment. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., signed off on the service's first publication of the doctrine on Agile Combat Employment December 9, which codified a proactive and reactive operational maneuvering scheme to increase survivability while generating combat power across a unified deterrence suite. Working with experts across the service, the LeMay Center developed the Air Force Doctrine Note 1-21, Agile Combat Employment, to serve as the basis for ACE's operational doctrine. U.S. Marines Conduct Final Seizure 2021 at Okinawa

U.S. Marines with III Marine Expeditionary Force, Force Reconnaissance, 4th Platoon and 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, in the 2021 EOTG Visit, Board, Search and Seizure course conduct their final exercise in Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 12, 2021.
